Thermal Analysis of Silica Gel. The thermal analysis of silica gel is described in detail and the result shown to identify three different sources of water desorption from three different and separate types of surface sites. The desorption isotherms are calculated and displayed and the temperature ranges over which each desorption occurs unambiguously identified.
