Emanation Thermal Analysis. Emanation thermal analysis is a technique that measures the evolution of gasses from a substance as the sample is heated. The gases can result from the desorption of adsorbed gases, the evolution of occluded gasses or the production of gases due to thermal decomposition. The gasses can be transferred to a capillary gas chromatograph or mass spectrometer for further examination and identification.
