Thermo-Magnetometry (TM)
All substances have magnetic properties and these properties define their magnetic character. As a result, when a substance is placed in an external magnetic field the sample will experience forces and these forces will be temperature dependant. The magnitude and direction of the force will depend on the specific magnetic type of which there are five forms that have been defined i.e. ferromagnetism, antiferromagnetism, ferrimagnetism, paramagnetism and diamagnetism. Chemists generally may not be familiar with all of these forms so they will be defined.
