Ferrimagnetism

Ferrimagnetic materials spontaneously hold magnetization below the Curie point but exhibit paramagnetic properties above the Curie temperature. Ferrimagnetic substances are similar to antiferromagnetic substances except that the spins of the atoms are not completely opposed. Consequently, there is some residual spontaneous magnetization still present.  However, on reducing the temperatures of some ferromagnetic substances there is a temperature at which the magnetic properties disappear and the there is complete spin compensation. Typical ferromagnetic substances are the ferrites and garnets.
