The power supply should be stabilized to at least 1% of the operating potential and the connection closest to the detector should be grounded to minimize static interference with the detector signal. The available voltage should range from 1 t 20 kV and be capable of providing a stable current of up to 200a. Another feature that is recommended is voltage reversal so that cations or anions can be examined.
