Experimental Electrophoretic Techniques
There are a number of different procedures that utilize the electophoretic migration principle for both analytical and
preparative purposes. They differ mostly in the nature of the medium that
supports or carries the charges particles. The early systems were somewhat
bulky and inefficient but, nevertheless, demonstrated the efficacy of the electrophoretic process. The following are some of the more
common techniques employed and each, with the exception of isotachophoresis,
will be discussed. The technique of isotachophoresis,
however, will be the subject of a separate book.
