Capillary Electrophoresis
Capillary electrophoresis separates species on a basis of size to charge ratio inside a small diameter capillary tube. The technique was introduced as a useful analytical technique in the early 1960s. The ions or charged particles are eluted through the system by two processes, one by liquid-flow that results from the proccess of electro-osmosis and the second by electrophoretic migration. Electrophoretic migration has already been considered in some detail but the process of electro-osmotic flow needs some discussion.
