Conductivity (Electrical). Electrical Conductivity is physical property of the material from which an electrical conductor is constructed (e.g. copper, constantan, platinum etc.). The conductivity of a substance is equal to the reciprocal of its 'specific resistance’. The ‘specific resistance’ of a substance is the electrical resistance taken across the opposite faces of a 1 cm cube of the substance. Both ‘specific conductivity’ and ‘specific resistance’ are physical properties that are important in the design of electrical circuits.
