Cathode
Cathode. The cathode is the name given to that electrode through which an electric current (conventionally assumed to consist of hypothetical positive charges) leaves the electrolytic system. In fact electrons actually flow in the opposite direction, that is, they go into the electrolytic circuit through the cathode. Electrons enter the circuit through the cathode.
